Choosing a Reiki Master is a very personal thing and you should feel as though guided to your Master. Of course not everyone understands this but basically you must feel as though that Master is the right on for you. Your Master should be your mentor and you will learn from each other. Whether your journey just takes you to first degree or through to Master level, try to stay with the Mikao Usui lineage. Do not be afraid to ask any questions that come to mind. Your Master should be willing and able to answer your questions. If he or she does not know, should be able to find the answer for you. We are all human and cant possibly know everything.
