This method of healing was lost to us for thousands of years. In the late 1800' s, during his search for enlightenment, Dr Mikao Usui rediscovered the secrets of Reiki hidden in the Tibetan Sutras. Dr Usui devoted the remainder of his life to healing and to teaching others about Reiki .Since that time, Reiki has been handed down to students, through attunements, all over the world.

What is the difference between Reiki and other methods of healing.
As an experienced spiritual or faith healer, I asked that question too. Even though I had a deep understanding of healing and replenishing my own energy I found that before Reiki, I was being drained of energy with each treatment that I gave. I reached a stage where I knew in my soul that I could not continue. As with every thing the Universe fulfilled my needs and I found Reiki. I began with a treatment from a 2nd Degree practitioner. The effect on me was instantaneous. During my treatment I saw symbols and colours that I had never seen before. They were meaningless to me but I told my therapist about them at the time. Little did I know then that what I had seen was Reiki energy. From that moment I knew that one day I would teach and share this wonderful gift. Reiki had given me back my energy. That is the most important difference. Reiki channels universal energy from the source of infinity above and when giving a treatment a practitioner also receives a treatment.

How does Reiki work ?
Each and every one of us has a life energy which flows within our bodies through Chakra's and Meridians. When our vibratory level is disrupted we become ill. Reiki which is a positive energy, flows through our body during a treatment, restoring our natural energy and allowing healing to take place in a very positive and natural way.
Reiki inducing feelings of peace and calm.
Reiki treats mind, body, and spirit.
Reiki is for the Self.
Reiki is for the Highest Good.
First help yourself, then can you begin to help others.

Do I have to treat other people?
No you do not have to treat other people. Reiki is primarily for the self. You can use it in any way that you wish. For personal treatments, for your family and close friends or with practice and experience for treating others who come to you.
